Stemming from his hip-hop background, producer Captain Planet flips and samples a vast arsenal of vinyls from ’round the globe (he used to be the host of WNYU’s international music show “Passport”) to create a blend he calls gumbo funk. “Bokazo,” the first taste off his upcoming cassette Mystery Trip Vol. 1 on Bastard Jazz Recordings, is a ”heavy and pulsing journey into Ghana mixed with deeper modern dancefloor vibes.” Grab the track below.
Shady Records recording artist and Alabama native Yelawolf has announced details for his upcoming 60-date “Slumerican Tour.”
The “Slumerican Tour” will feature Yelawolf as the headliner with support coming from the likes of Rittz, Trouble Andrew and DJ Vajra as openers.
Beginning on September 13 in Huntsville, Alabama, Yelawolf and tourmates will hit 60 cities such as Jacksonville, Memphis, New Orleans, Brooklyn, Las Vegas, Nashville, and the list goes on, before wrapping the tour up on November 17 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Yelawolf released his Shady Records debut, Radioactive, last November, and is already in the process of finishing up his second label project, Love Story, currently set for release at the top of next year. Before Love Story drops, however, Yelawolf will release the Psycho White EP with drummer and producer Travis Barker
