Born and raised in the hills of MA, DJ Theory has been making music since he was in his huggies. Now based in San Francisco and all grown up, he can be found deep in the lab by day cooking up fresh and original production, remixes, edits and DJ mixes, and in the club by night serving up healthy portions of heat behind the decks. He touched a slew of venues in The Bay and beyond his first year in town, and also secured a position as the official scratch DJ for the SF 49ers performing live at every home game. In an era where anyone can bluff as a DJ, select few are still keeping things original, forward-thinking, and true to the essence… To put it short, Theory is NOT playing around with his experience will continue to provide music for the people, and turn any room upside down with no apology.
In addition to his solo works, Theory is a founder and active member in the MA-based hip hop collective “The Problemaddicts” whose last album (released on Mystika Music, a label Theory founded in ’05) was quickly charted in the top 10 on CMJ hip hop chart and went on to receive extensive press and radio play worldwide. Through his work with The Problemaddicts he’s performed, toured, produced, scratched, mixed and collaborated with artists like Masta’ Ace, Planet Asia, Statik Selektah, Tash of Tha Alkaholiks, Illmind, Termanology, Crooked I, Ed OG, Big Pooh of Little Brother, Akil the MC of Jurassic 5, El Da Sensei, Main Flow, Mr. Metaphor, Mr. Lif, Brother Ali, Akrobatik, Immortal Technique… He’s also shared the stage with a wide range of artists, just a few of which have included Sizzla, KRS-One, Mos Def, N.E.R.D, Just Blaze, Ghostface, Dead Prez, Passion Pit, De La Soul, Federation Sound, Jahdan Blakkamoore, Leftside aka Dr. Evil, Dilated Peoples, Blackalicious, Soulive, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Antibalas, Sean Price & Bootcamp, Brazilian Girls, Lee “Scratch” Perry, M.O.P, Little Brother, GZA …
